Green Gram Sundal: Classic Indian Snack

Ingredients:
- 1 cup green gram
- 1/2 cup grated coconut
- 1 tablespoon oil
- 1 teaspoon mustard seeds
- 1/2 teaspoon cumin seeds
- 1/4 teaspoon turmeric powder
- 1/2 teaspoon red chili powder
- 1/4 teaspoon asafoetida
- Salt to taste
- Curry leaves (optional)
Instructions:
- Wash the green gram and soak it in water for at least 3 hours.
- Drain the water and pressure cook the green gram with 1 cup of water for 3 whistles.
- Heat oil in a pan and add the mustard seeds. Once they splutter, add the cumin seeds, turmeric powder, red chili powder, and asafoetida.
- Saute for a few seconds and then add the cooked green gram.
- Add salt to taste and mix well.
- Garnish with grated coconut and curry leaves (optional).
- Serve hot or warm.
